Natasha Benjamin is a filmmaker and marine scientist based in Northern California.
Natasha has worked in ocean science, conservation and communications for 25 years. She is a Producer for Peabody Award winning Brick City TV film company and is currently producing a film on the collapse of California’s kelp forest, ‘Sequoias of the Sea.’ In the last few years Natasha has focused more on ocean storytelling by mastering the art of camera work and film editing. As a diver, surfer and ocean lover who has not only spent her career, but most of her life working and playing in the sea, she is dedicated to its preservation and a healthy blue planet.
Natasha is the Media Director at Marine Research & Exploration (MARE) where she works on developing multimedia content on deep-sea research and blue technology. She is also the Associate Director of Blue Frontier, where she works on ocean climate action policy and building a citizen movement toward healthy oceans. Natasha has a B.S. in Marine Biology from Boston University and M.S. in Marine Policy from University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science (RSMAS).

Blue Frontier
As Associate Director of with Blue Frontier, Natasha works on developing local and national policy to build a sustainable blue economy. Building on her background in marine science and fisheries management and strong expertise in science, policy and partnership building, she is working on Blue Frontier’s Ocean Climate Action Plan partnering with the Center for the Blue Economy.

Rising Tide Ocean Podcast
Natasha helps produce ‘Rising Tide: The Ocean Podcast‘, as Blue Frontier project, where you meet today’s ocean champions, including senators, scientists, surfers, and youth activists covering a range of issues, including climate change, overfishing, and plastic pollution. Co-hosted by Blue Frontier's David Helvarg and the Inland Ocean Coalition's Vicki Nichols-Goldstein.
